Communicating to be Understood

How we communicate with each other, whether it is a co-worker or spouse, can make or break a relationship. In this workshop, we will explore how people communicate differently and how you can use your strengths to build relationships with your team and increase people's feeling of being heard.
Through the workshop participants will learn their communication style and how it interacts with other styles. We will also be walking through some communication and group theory that will allow participants to identify stages of the communication process and where struggles may be happening. The goal is for participants to walk out with a strong idea of how to make communication work for them rather than against them.
Objectives:

You not only have to understand who all of your stakeholders are, but how they may be impacted by your evaluation results. Your most critical stakeholders may not always be who you think they are.

Youth Leadership and Empowerment: Creating a Culture of Engagement

Youth programs can be a space wherein youth can learn to be leaders, not only through occupying leadership positions but also by participating in meaningful community engagement activities, regardless of position. To cultivate opportunities where youth are able to learn skills and develop the self-efficacy to be engaged citizens and leaders, purposeful planning of activities is needed. Empowerment frameworks offer practitioners a way to reflect on their own perceptions of youth engagement and develop programs that can have an impact on both the youth and their community.

While an entire career can be devoted to learning theory and perfecting teaching, Extension professionals must quickly learn to be effective in this skill that is central to the Extension mission. This webinar will touch on the basics of teaching theory as a foundation and then focus on effective strategies to implement in the non-formal educational context of Cooperative Extension.
Objectives:
- Articulate a basic foundation in teaching and learning principles and theories
- Consider strategies on bringing these basic teaching and learning principles and theories to life in your Extension work
