I am pleased to announce that Dr. Cynthia Torppa has accepted the appointment of director of Learning and Organizational Development for OSU Extension. Cynthia received her bachelor’s degree in psychology and her master’s and doctoral degrees in communication from The Ohio State University. Cynthia, an associate professor, began her career at Ohio State in 1999 as an Extension educator in Morrow County, and she has since served in several roles including center specialist and Northwest Region director where she provided leadership to 20 counties, including all matters affecting personnel, finance, public relations, and business operations. In addition to Extension, much of Cynthia’s career has been served as a resident faculty member, first achieving the rank of associate professor with tenure at the University of Delaware, associate professor at Pennsylvania State University, and professor at Marshall University. Her most recent publications address issues in organizational communication and organization development.
In this position, Cindy will provide statewide leadership for Extension’s efforts to build personal and institutional capacity to provide extraordinary service to the people of Ohio. This portfolio of work will include onboarding of new Extension faculty and staff, internal and external professional and continuing education, online program registration, records maintenance and integration, community assessment, program planning, program evaluation, and the documentation of statewide Extension impacts.
